Rock/Punk/Ska- Hard rock sensibilities with the grittiness of 80s punk and the hooks of 90s ska. -Madison-
Born at the bottom of a 40 oz and raised in the frozen wastelands of the Midwest, The 4 Aspirin Morning (4AM) combines hard rock sensibilities with the grittiness of 80s punk and the catchy hooks of early 90s ska. The result: a wave of guitars that collides with a storm of horns to create a fresher, darker, more aggressive sound.
The 4AM's diverse and rotating lineup has been gaining regional and national attention, opening for ska and punk giants such as Mustard Plug, Mad Caddies, The Toasters, Deal's Gone Bad, The Invaders, Flatfoot 56, Mrs. Skannotto, Something To Do and many more. The band has also recently signed a promo and distro deal with eclectic upstart record company iEP (Independent Ear Productions)!

Rock/Heavy- American rock & roll machine from the great northwoods of WI! Blues infusedcountry tinged, straight forward rock and roll until we die!!
2009 brought about the release of the bands sophomore effort. “Newton’s Cradle” was recorded at Whitehouse Studios in Wausau, WI and the 14 track disc is a flamethrower. On display throughout is a more uniform and in-your-face style of song writing. Just an Illusion and Only Dying provide power, big harmonies, and plenty of rock radio hooks. The musicianship is impeccably road-worn and Wallis’ vocals crash through the tracks like a finely aimed wrecking ball. Additionally, the Hales’ brothers provide lead vocals on the tracks Burn, Holy Water, Lies, Newton’s Cradle, and Sleazy, further showing the true depth of talent that has emerged from the band.
2013 finds the band prepping to put out a new EP entitled “Purebred American”. This grouping of songs takes the band back to its roots. More of a southern hard rock vibe that links the Hales’ brothers classic rock upbringing with Mike and Ryan’s country background. This is a no-frills, straight up rock n roll effort that is bound to appeal to any rock enthusiast. A full on national radio promotion is being engineered along with extensive shows/travel. 4th Floor had the extreme pleasure of recording this EP with producer and 2 time Grammy nominee, Travis Wyrick, down in Knoxville, TN. The recording spanned 10 days at the end of January 2013.

Holding the title of ‘the hardest working lounge band in the Midwest’ is no easy task…unless you are the 5 Card Studs. Many things can be said about the 5 Card Studs – that they ‘spread their aural pleasure like jelly all over your biscuits’, they aim to ‘have a good time – ALL THE TIME’, that when they perform it’s an experience that is ‘so big it’s ALIVE!’. One thing is certain, though. The 5 Card Studs aren’t so much a cover band as much as they are an entertainment experience.

Acoustic/Rock/Comedy/Singer/Songwriter- Raised in a suburban area in Madison, Wisconsin, Adam has been singing and playing the guitar since the age of 13. At 17 Adam joined the metal band, "Malice in Wonderland," and became the band's lead vocalist. After screaming for five years as frontman of MIW, Adam decided to part ways with the band and explore alternate genres of music. Setting his mind on acoustic/rock in the summer of 2004, Adam began writing and covering songs of many different styles. Over the years he created many acoustic originals as well as many spin-off covers from artists such as, Kid Cudi, Lil' Wayne, Incubus and Stone Sour. After throwing in several originals in the comedy genre, Adam had written a varied arsenal of music to start playing shows around the Madison area and branding his name.
When the ball started rolling and the gigs started getting a little closer together on the calendar, Adam decided to up the ante and start a movement. He wanted to have a message behind the music he played. He wanted a positive message that he could promote to his fans that would spread virally and influence peoples lives. Hence, the Autumn Resistance was born. The birth of the Resistance created a message that Adam could promote to anyone who wanted to listen. A message that would influence people to lead better lives and stay active in their communitites. Using his music and his vision to spread a postive message to his fans is something Adam has always wanted to do. That dream is now a reality.

Continuously enhancing the project All Good Things, it was lead singer John Petty on guitar, “guitjo” (a guitar/banjo hybrid) and vocals; and now as a solo act, Petty picks up the pace back in Milwaukee. Still singing and playing guitar or “guitjo” he is occasionally joined by friends from the local music community and continues to stretch out of the common folk genre. Using different techniques, Petty has a sound unlike most traditional Folk artists. He blends Folk, Bluegrass, Pop, and Indie/Rock into something that transcends what you might not be expecting. Without revealing his secret to writing lyrics, his words are strong in the sound and meaning behind each song.

Rockin' Rhythem 'n' Blues-Altered Five’s delectable brew of blues and soul has a wide audience taking notice.
Proclaimed “a staple of the Midwest’s band scene” and “a festival favorite” by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Altered Five’s delectable brew of blues and soul has a wide audience taking notice.
From day one, Altered Five dared to be different. The quintet formed in 2002 and quickly gained a reputation for its inventive arrangements and distinctive sound. Isthmus magazine called the band “a rising blues unit” and OnMilwaukee.com declared, “The group delivers the element of surprise.”
The new album, entitled Gotta Earn It, puts an exclamation mark on Altered Five’s steadfast determination. The self-produced release stays true to the band’s soul-rockin’ signature yet takes a major step forward in forging a new musical frontier. “JT” Taylor’s powerful voice anchors the sound and drives home the message in songs like the brooding ballad “Three Wishes,” the wistful, burning blues of “Older, Wiser, Richer,” and the yearning “Mona Lisa.” The rhythm section of drummer Scott Schroedl and bassist Mark Solveson grooves hard and enjoys telepathic interaction with keyboardist Ray Tevich and guitarist Jeff Schroedl. Guitar World magazine raves that Schroedl has “hi-tech chops” and contributes “superlative solo work.” The group also puts its stamp on three covers: a driving, bluesified take on the early Marvin Gaye hit “Ain’t That Peculiar”; a revved-up reading of Buddy Guy’s 1961 Chess recording “Watch Yourself”; and the cool, sassy groove of another Motown original, “You’ve Got to Earn It.”

Talking about history..
An attempt to assemble the history of a band that's been functioning as a unit for nearly eight years requires some thought and recollection. At this moment, a vague description of such a history is all that can be mustered. It is somewhat akin to a fish story, and the fish in question would likely be the mysterious northwoods burbot. Known for its elusive character, the burbot resides deep in the darkness of northern freshwater lakes, hardly going out of its way to draw attention to itself aside from the stealth action of making its trademark fierce and precise kill. That would make for a good fish story, but Aluminum Knot Eye is obviously not a fish. And this particular story of the burbot is merely a charming metaphor. So expect the full story sometime in the near future. The story will include details such as basement experimentation, tadpole-stage development, multiple burglaries claiming vital band equipment, personnel shifts and many details in between. Check back soon to see the truth revealed.

Funny- a street musician in Madison, plays humorous novelty, gospel, & political songs. Over 22 CDs.
Art Paul Schlosser was born born in Chicago, January 4, 1960. He grew up listening to novelty music like Allen Sherman and Tiny Tim as well as funny songs by The Beatles and The Monkees. When Art was 11, he, his mother, and his sisters moved to Madison, Wisconsin after his parents got a divorce. As a child in Madison, his mother continued to play weird and funny songs for him, sometimes playing strange sound effects on one recorded player to go with the songs. As a teenager, Art Paul joined a work experience play group that encouraged Art to be creative. In this group, there were a couple of fans of The Beatles, one of whom encouraged Art Paul to write lyrics. It was from that time on that Art started to write. Art would listen to the Dr Demento radio show as well as other strange records that he discovered at the local library, and then try to write some lyrics he was inspired to write after listening to the songs. On Art's 19 Birthday Art recieved a guitar and started to write music to go with lyrics.Upon discovering that it is legal to busk on State Street, Art Paul tried it out on a warm day late in February 1986 and received a couple of dollars for his effort. Since then Art Paul has been a street musician and busker as well as an outsider artist on State Street in Madison, Wisconsin.

Jazz- The Bad Plus — bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson, and drummer David King — have a well-earned reputation for pushing the limits on what is expected of a piano-bass-drums trio. The past 15 years have seen the genre-smashing band create a distinctive and original repertoire of inventive and exciting original music, along with iconoclastic covers of artists as divergent as Nirvana and Neil Young, Aphex Twin and Ornette Coleman..
The Bad Plus came together at the end of the 20th century and has avoided easy categorization ever since, winning critical hosannas and a legion of fans worldwide with their creativity, unique sound and flair for live performance. Based in New York City, the intensely collaborative trio has constantly searched for rules to break and boundaries to cross, bridging genres and techniques while exploring the infinite possibilities of three exceptional musicians working in perfect sync. The Bad Plus' 10th studio recording, Inevitable Western, sees bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson, and drummer David King further honing the same conceptual base that fired their inception. Yet again they continue to explore myriad musical forms born of jazz along with any sonic source that forwards music that is uniquely The Bad Plus. Inevitable Western is an album where pop, blues, and folk meld with classic melodies and rhythmic innovation into that rarest of hybrids: intelligent music for the masses.
"Audacious, rule-breaking jazz trio crunches and at times pulverizes swing to let improvisational freedom shine...Dynamics play a huge roll in the act's music, as does humor, an element sorely lacking in most of contemporary jazz. But beauty is also key... jazz purists tremble while the vanguard flocks.” - Billboard

The Beat Chefs were separated immediately after birth when their parents divorced. One went with his mother to London, while the other stayed with his father in Napa Valley. During their childhood, they attended summer camp together. After realizing their twin-like similarities they began to share keepsakes and photographs. Each one had half of a photograph of their parent in a wedding. Suddenly after joining both halves, they realized they were sisters... just a couple of young, little redheaded girls showered with freckles. After a failed attempt to reunite their parents by switching places, the two youths remained apart, each one developing their skills in making music and street fighting. They grew up listening to similar sounds and mastering the same fighting style. After many years of training and perfecting their talents, they were once again brought together to seek redemption in a worldwide fighting tournament that would capture the hearts and minds of the children during the 90's. Needless to say, they were together again, and this time for reals! The young men took their music to the tough streets of Madison in an effort to revitalize the withering live music scene. Times were hard and the two had to hustle to feed their daughters (daughters actually being their insatiable desire to keep up with the latest Jordans and super nintendo games). Before long, the duo had established themselves as a successful music group and became notorious for causing revelry and non-stop dance parties. Much like the MC's of their youth, they bring more than just live music. They create the beats, samples, and riffs right in front of their audience. Together, they bring you back the old hits, while blending in new ones and seamlessly bringing in their own music. Their innovative performance and funky grooves have made The Beat Chefs one of the most sought after groups in Madison and the surrounding areas.

The sound from Beef Tea flows from a wellspring tapped when 5 boys and a girl coming from different musical backgrounds uncovered a new sound that we think is worth celebrating. Lyrics originated from a backdrop of the growing pains in starting a family, the monotony of a work day, the perpetual visits of a sleepless night, and among many other partnerships…the defiant stride into the unknown future - life basically.

Soon they were being asked to perform at festivals and shows around the state, sharing the stage with well-known roots performers such as the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Frank Fairfield. This refreshing “little jug band that could” features a delightfully rich and clunky sonic pallete that is sure to cure what ails you!

Chamber Folk/Soul Acoustic/Electric guitars, cello, violins-layered harmonies to afro-funk beats... Brandon Beebe has waited a long time for his debut album, “In This Place”, to come to fruition.  Luckily, the wait was worth it. The self-produced, self-financed collection is meticulously crafted, and the blood, sweat and tears that went into its creation can be both heard and felt. Lyrically, it is often raw and direct, while at other times it is allusive and poetic. Beebe’s rich vocals are delivered with both confidence and vulnerability, reminiscent of Cat Stevens, Elliot Smith, Ben Harper, and Ray Lamontagne, but at once all his own.  Sonically, its textures range broadly: from acoustic guitars surrounded by cello and violins, to swelling tones from electric guitars and keyboards, to haunting, layered harmonies to afro-funk beats with Brazilian percussion.  Songs like “Ghost” provide the perfect soundtrack for a cold winter’s evening, while “She’s the Moon” recalls summer’s sweat and excitement. The album’s diverse stylistic range and depth make it apparent that “In This Place” is no ordinary singer-songwriter album, and Beebe is no ordinary performer.
